Expedition cruise vessel Ocean Odyssey hits water

Owned by SunStone Ships, the ‘Ocean Odyssey’ is marking the charterer Vantage Cruise Line's second entry into five-star ocean cruising, being the sister ship to the 2021 delivery Ocean Explorer.

Scheduled to debut in 2022, the 162-passenger vessel will sail on worldwide itineraries.

The 104.4-metre long expedition cruise ship is built to the ice-strengthened, Polar Class 6, standards, allowing for deeper exploration into polar areas.

It comes with the ULSTEIN X-BOW® technology which provides smoother sailing in rough seas, enhancing the passengers’ and crews’ comfort as the vessel traverses the world’s seas. It comes with environmentally friendly standards with reduced emissions into air and sea and lower energy consumption and runs on low-sulphur marine gas oil.

Although intimately scaled, the passengers can enjoy a multi-level observation lounge, the main restaurant with fine dining, a lecture area as well as a gym and spa facilities, and an outdoor infinity pool and hot tubs.

A fleet of 22 onboard Zodiacs will be used for tours and shore landings and passengers will be able to get changed in a dedicated "mudroom." There will also be a platform to access water sports such as scuba diving, kayaking and snorkelling.
